DEIF & Tactus Co-operate to offer Remote Control Solution for Generators

DEIF, the specialist gen-set control company and Tactus Telematics, the remote system management specialists, have launched a complete solution for remote control of generators.

The system ensures that generators are always ready to provide power when required.   It also helps to minimise servicing costs by tracking functions such as fuel level, oil quality and power output.   This ensures that only essential visits are made and that engineers attend sites correctly equipped and informed.

The solution consists of the DEIF multi-line 2 series of controller units and the Tactus GenTrak generator tracking system.

The GenTrak system comprises compact and rugged units that can be mounted inside the generator enclosure.  These are connected to a DEIF multi-line 2 controller and specialised sensors such as oil quality probes.   DEIF controllers can be fitted to a wide range of generator applications ranging from simple island operated sets to larger sophisticated Power Management solutions.

A central software application keeps in regular contact with each unit via the mobile communications network.  This application can be integrated with standard network management packages.  It remotely monitors the generator’s vital signs such as fuel level, oil quality and power output.   If any function moves outside of set limits, the system raises an alarm via email or SMS.

The system even offers remote control and monitoring of the generators. This allows field servicing to be carried out more efficiently and ensures that generators are always ready for operation.

GenTrak,  additionally, keeps track of the unit’s location.   In the event that the generator is moved without permission, the system raises an alarm.

“The ability to send and receive information is becoming more and more important to all business areas. With the DEIF and Tactus Telemetry solution this has many more added benefits such as remote control and monitoring coupled with the ability to pinpoint the actual position of the equipment. This offers the advantage of security when tracking the movement of equipment so, should the generator move outside its set area of operation, an alarm will be sent to notify personnel of the security alert”, says Roger Watterson from DEIF UK.

“Generators are there as a form of insurance against power failure.   It therefore makes good sense to make sure that they are always ready.   GenTrak does just that.   Our co-operation with DEIF means that we can offer these benefits for almost any generator”, says Malek Ladki, Chief Technical Officer of Tactus Telematics and of the AlanDick Group.
