Tactus signs up Ireland’s leading cellular tracking products and service distributor
September, 2006 – Tactus, the AlanDick telemetry products and solutions company, has announced that Decipher Technology Limited will distribute its remote management telemetry systems in Southern and Northern Ireland.
Initially the Dublin-based distributor will concentrate on promoting the revolutionary Tactus GenTrak system, which cost-effectively supports the complete remote management of fixed and mobile generators.
The system consists of a compact and rugged unit that can be mounted inside the generator, connecting to the generator control panel and interfacing with generator systems using specialised sensors such as fuel probes.
Features of GenTrak, which is expected to save large users and rental companies unnecessary expensive site visits, and so keep marginal costs under control, include the automatic checking of functions such as power output and vital signs such as fuel levels plus oil quality.
When these functions pass pre-set limits, GenTrak automatically raises the alarm for a maintenance engineer to visit.
Commenting on the appointment of Decipher Technology as a distributor, David Williams, AlanDick’s corporate marketing manager and head of Tactus global sales, said that Ireland’s markets are ideal sales opportunities for Tactus GenTrak, owing to the country’s lower population density and relatively remote locations where generators are often installed.
“Tactus GenTrak is ideal for cellular base-station locations, as it saves on site visits and helps to keep cell site running costs under control. Our studies in Africa have shown that the Tactus GenTrak system can actually reduce the total cost of ownership of cell sites in GSM networks with payback within 3-6 months in many cases,” he added.
According to Williams, not only does GenTrak save on network support costs, but it can also help to maintain carrier revenues and customer satisfaction, since the system can alert carriers to potential cell site problems before they become apparent to the network control centre.
Graham Kinsella, Decipher Technology’s business development director, said he expects sales to come from both the network and hire markets, in which the distributor has made its name known with its advanced tracking and telemetry solutions.
“We have established ourselves as a leading player in Ireland’s cellular tracking technology marketplace and, thanks to this link with Tactus, we fully expect our position to go from strength to strength,” he said.
“Tactus GenTrak is an exciting product to add to our portfolio, since it has the capacity to save cell site operators tangible cash on their base station running costs. Even here in Dublin, a base station site visit can easily run in excess of 150 euros and, if a number of site visits can be saved by Tactus GenTrak, as we believe is the case, then the system will pay for itself in short order,” he added.
